An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is an animal that alleviates symptoms of psychological or emotional struggles/disorders on its own or part of a recommendation by a health care clinician. Although it may not always be possible to bring ESAs to all environments (the way Service animals would be), such a letter legitimizes and legally protects you from having to pay extra fees and may allow you a broader range of options regarding where you live and can exempt you from breed/size restrictions.  As a psychologist who researched this subject for her dissertation, Dr. Koplow is extremely well-versed in the psychological (along with physical) benefits of animal companions and offers ESA evaluations/letters that are compliant with Florida ESA law (Florida Statute 760.27).
